Mould and Moisture

How to keep mould and moisture out to make your home healthier

Insulation
Heating
Energy Efficiency

Research has revealed that we can have up to 200L of moisture rise from the ground each week – even if it appears dry. This is why we choose to install polythene on the ground under your house as well as the NOVAfloor insulation.
Some companies say this polythene moisture barrier is not needed, however we believe it is very important as it’s the first defense against moisture. Moisture can cause many issues in a home, like condensation and unhealthy air,  this could lead to respritory illnesses as mould develops.
Our commitment is to make your home healthier, this is why we don’t take short cuts.

Stopping the moisture getting into your home first is key to having a healthier home.

  • Make sure your bathroom and kitchen has an extractor fan and it is vented outside - not just into the ceiling.
  • Open windows and doors during the day to replace the air.
  • Ensure you have sufficient insulation.
  • If you use a drier, make sure it is vented outside.
  • Where possible, do not dry clothes inside.
  • Open a window when you use a portable gas heater. (We strongly advise against the use of un flued gas heaters)
  • To combat mould, spray white vinegar onto the mould, leave for a couple days then wipe off with warm soapy water.
