Recently Energy Options were honoured to run a promotion asking the community to nominate people who they thought deserved their house to be insulated free of charge. We were overwhelmed by the response and more so by the stories we read. We were honoured to insulate Rae McIntosh's house. She was nominated by sister Carol Byrne.
"My Sister Rae McIntosh has had a very tough couple of years and yet she still keeps giving and I think she deserves this insulation in her home. She has a large very cold house. 4 years ago she took in our parents to live with her when they could no longer live alone, She nursed our Mum until her death 3 years ago, but our Dad who is 92 in July is still with her and as he has dementure he is very hard work. On top of that Rae was diagnosed with Breast cancer and has had surgery, chemo, more surgery and radiation treatment. Then her Mother in Law moved to Hastings and she undertook the placement of her mum in law into a home and continues to take her out for weekly outings and giving her full support.Rae works part time and has 2 of her 3 sons also living with her. Rae has manage to get heating into the 2 main living areas of her home but the reat of her home is very very cold in the winter."
