Curtain Bank

| Curtain Bank operates out of Energy Options in Whakatane, Rotorua, Gisborne, Tauranga and Hawkes Bay. Since the launch Curtain Bank has been able to provide curtains to local homes, helping to keep families warmer in the winter months and help to reduce wastage and money spent on heating. Thermal backed and lined curtains play a huge part of keeping a house warm, and Curtain Bank seek to fill that need through gathering second-hand donated curtains, fixing them up, and distributing them to those in need. |

Louise Maple (from Energy Options) is the local coordinator and says “it is so exciting seeing a family receive curtains for their home. It is great to be involved in an organisation that is committed to helping people in such a practical way. Curtain Bank is directly helping families in our community to have a better quality of life.”
Labour support from volunteers and the curtain donations by people in the community have helped this organisation to get off to a great start and make a real difference in this community. However due to the growing demand for Curtain Banks services, the community organization is in need of more volunteers or donations.
Roles of volunteers could include helping with pick up of curtains, organising the curtains, and general maintenance e.g. washing, relining etc. Any time you can contribute is greatly appreciated; it is the collective help of volunteers that makes it possible for curtain bank to reach those in need.
Not only is it the support of volunteers that makes the difference, but also donations of curtains, curtain material, tracks, and curtain hooks by people in the community. Donations such as these are always welcome, and appreciated.
So if you think you are up to helping out curtain bank achieve their goal of helping people in your community live in a warmer more healthier home, call Louise Maple on 0800 15 15 65.
